Evidence of Roman origins linked to the use of the territory as grazing land has been found; while any medieval evidence has completely disappeared, both Venetian and Austrian influences are substantiated and visible in religious buildings, especially in liturgical fittings.
Church of Sant Maria Maggiore The interior of Santa Maria Maggiore (15th-17th centuries) is outstanding for the elegance of both the wall decorations and the marble high altar by Paolino Zuliani. Remarkable is the stucco-framed altarpiece with Virgin, Holy Father and model of the church district by Giuseppe Cosattini (17th cent). A 16th-century wooden set of St. Martin and the poor is worth mentioning, as well as the two chapels of Sant'Anna and of Madonna di Loreto, respectively dating from the 19th and 17th centuries, which are examples of popular devotion. Today, Visco is mainly and agricultural centre, thriving on the fertility of the surrounding territory.
