Evidence of Roman origins
linked to the use of the
territory as grazing land has been
found; while any medieval evidence
has completely disappeared,
both Venetian and Austrian influences are
substantiated and visible in religious
buildings, especially in liturgical fittings.

The interior of Santa Maria Maggiore
(15th-17th centuries) is outstanding for the
elegance of both the wall decorations and the
marble high altar by Paolino Zuliani.
Remarkable is the stucco-framed altarpiece
with Virgin, Holy Father and model of the
church district by Giuseppe Cosattini
(17th cent). A 16th-century wooden set of
St. Martin and the poor is worth mentioning,
as well as the two chapels of Sant'Anna and
of Madonna di Loreto, respectively dating
from the 19th and 17th centuries, which are
examples of popular devotion. Today, Visco
is mainly and agricultural centre, thriving on
the fertility of the surrounding territory.
