Invillino, the
Ibligo mentioned
by Paolo Diacono
in his Historia
Langobardorum, is
one of the Carnic villages that
boast the remotest origins: on
Santino hill, in fact, a Roman
settlement dating from the
1st-7th centuries AD was found,
while on Colle di Zucca, not
far from the small church of
S.Maria del Ponte, a religious
complex of the early 5th century
was discovered. The Pieve of
S. Maria di Invillino, standing
on a terrace facing the town, is

Carnia, probably dating to the
6th-7th centuries, even though

a faithful replica, was moved
to the Diocesan Museum in
Udine for safety from theft.
The small church of S. Maria
del Sasso is a picturesque
sight. Several houses with
stone portals and wide
graceful arches are scattered
in the territory.

hostile environment, their religious spirit,
their everyday life, those must not miss
the Museum of Tolmezzo,
where in so many years
of devout dedication
and research
