In the municipality of Treppo
Grande examples of typical
architecture are still visible, such as
the buildings perfectly restored after
the earthquake in Vendoglio and
Zeglianutto (in Casa De Giorgi, two levels of
elegant arches) and a characteristic rural
district in Zegliacco. Treppo Piccolo boasts
the 15th-century Villa Marzona Levi, with a
wide front on the garden and notable
decorations inside. The parish church of
Immacolata Concezione at Treppo Grande
was built in 1871 on a project by Girolamo
D'Aronco in late neo-Classical style (two

octagons supporting a cupola and preceded by
an avant-corps with gabled façade). Inside it
preserves a 17th-century altarpiece by Swiss
artist Melchior Widmar. In the small church
of S. Maria Maddalena at Treppo Piccolo,
traces of medieval frescoes are found, among
which St. Christopher, while in the old
parish church of S. Michele at Vendoglio
lovely 1555 frescoes by Gian Paolo Thanner
(now removed) were found.

(also mentioned by
the Florentine historian
Filippo Villani), of
1511 (that halfdestroyed
