Situated at the confluence of Rivers Torre and Judrio on an old Roman crossroads to which several findings are referred, partly still walled in later buildings, the most significant traces of the town's history are linked to the Middle Ages at first and the Venetian rule then. First of all,
Villa Strassoldo the ancient centa, or ring of walls with defensive turrets dating to the 14th-15th centuries, on which houses were built. In the area of the centa, the splendid Villa Strassoldo, Pace (1700s) is outstanding, surrounded as it is by a historic garden and the main building developing frontally with two protruding parts that underline the severe majesty of the villa. An important noble residence fronting onto the tree-lined square on which also the small church of S. Margherita da Cortona (1700s) fronts, containing fittings of the same period and 19th-century frescoes, and most of all the parish church of S. Martino (17th cent.), built on the site of a previous, probably 15th-century church of which only the good apse frescoes attributed to a Tuscan master remain. Inside is the polychrome marble high altar by Leonardo Zuliani.
