Though a very little town, it
preserves excellent examples of
rural architecture in its territory
which is a long, narrow strip between
Torrents Chiarṣ and Degano.
Raveo has very remote origins: it was not far
from the
town that
gold and
silver Roman
coins were
found, together with funerary urns and
oil-lamps. The parish church, designed by
Domenico Schiavi in the 18th century and
remodelled by Girolamo D'Aronco, has a
lovely altarpiece by Nicola Grassi. More
interesting is the hermitage convent of Monte
Castellano, dominating the town from above
in a splendid panoramic position, whose
annexed chapel has several paintings and
exquisite 17th-century wooden altars.
Numerous nice "stavoli" and barns are
scattered in the valley of Valdie.
