Located in the Tagliamento valley
huddled on the mountains
separating it from the valley of Torrent
Arzino, the destination of lovely
excursions, Preone is a small village
mentioned in documents in 1202 for the first
time. Several buildings are recognizable
as typical of Carnia in style, with tuff framed
windows and arches supported by pilasters in
local stone; notable

among others for its noble
features is the 18th-century Palazzo Lupieri.
The parish church of S. Giorgio shows
paintings by local artists side by side with a
Crucifixion by Palma the Younger dated
about 1570 which he had accomplished for
the church of S. Croce in Belluno and was
brought here in the 19th century.
