By destroying a series of rustic buildings, the 1976 earthquake has partly deleted the traces of the ancient rural society; however, some districts still retain buildings with balconies, mostly dating to the 18th century, responding to architectural styles typical of the pre-Alps area (especially in the recently restored neighbourhood of Cologna and in the Lucardi district).
