Rich in woods and karst vegetation, the area still retains examples of traditional architecture and agricultural and craft activities: terrano wine, tabor cheese, and marble quarries. The village of Zolla-Col is dominated by the fortress of Monrupino (a former protohistoric castelliere) still surrounding the houses with their traditional roofs of limestone slabs, and by the 16th-century Church of Beata Vergine Assunta, a Marian Sanctuary. Carsismo create ponds and reservoirs that have become natural oases, as the Dolina of Percedol, one of the largest, which is a protected wildlife reserve.
