The natural
beauty of the
Claut area is not so
showy as in the
Dolomites tourist
resorts, though it has
a quiet appeal that often
leads the impromptu
tourist to come back
provided with altimetric
maps so as not to leave
the most picturesque
paths unexplored. On the
way back from
excursions, one may
admire the typical Claut
houses, on whose facades
porticoes and small
loggias chase one
another, or have a look at
the wooden altarpieces
by the Auregnes (17th
cent.) in the church of
San Giorgio, or raise the
gaze to the frescoes by
T. Donadon (1911-1912)
or spend one's
remaining energies in the
state-of-the-art
Palaghiaccio (ice rink).

The territory ranges from the
pleasant plains at the foot of the
mountains in the Aviano area
(where the silent jewel of Castel
d'Aviano stands out) to the doublefaced
high mountains, showing the
