Bordano is nowadays generally renown as the "town of butterflies". Since the urban and artistic wealth of the town was wiped out by the 1976 earthquake, the Town Council has enhanced a few of the environmental assets of the area, in particular the presence of several species of butterflies in the surrounding mountains: hence the possibility of an economic and
Murales tourist revival of the town. The most evident effect of this is certainly given by the murales with butterflies that embellish both private and public buildings in town and in the neighbourhood of Interneppo. Such murales, normally very large and executed by well-known artists, are a distinguishing mark. Pleasant excursions may be made to Mount S. Simeone, where a votive chapel stands affording a comprehensive view of Carnia and Friuli; other itineraries lead excursionists to Mount Festa and the nearby Lake of Cavazzo. Both civil and religious buildings in town are all modern in style and the Town Hall was designed by architect Vittorio Battigelli.
