The finding of a late-Republican
sanctuary (ruins) and of a
Lombard necropolis (Sevegliano)
underlines the importance of this centre
located at the crossroads of two crucial
ancient roads, the Postumia and the so-called
Iulia Augusta. The municipality boasts lovely
churches as: the parish church of S. Giorgio
(18th-19th centuries); the 20th-century parish

church of S. Andrea Apostolo at Sevegliano,
containing a precious Renaissance spout and
marble altar coming from the destroyed Palmada;
the small church of S. Carlo Borromeo at
Villafranca (1700s); the parish church of
Privano (17th cent.). For its architecture the
church of S. Maria Assunta at
Castions delle Mura (18th cent.) is
outstanding, where both the dedication
and the double bell tower of German
origin are reminiscent of older
historical events. Two noble residences,
Villa Antonini, Dessj at Privano and
Villa Orgnani, Minuttolo at
Sevegliano (built straddling the 18th
and 19th centuries) further enrich the
municipality. Finally, Sevegliano shows
a unique rural complex built after the
decline of Aquileia's Patriarchate.

of the present-day
Strada
Napoleonica),

resurgences from which
rivers or streams or
simply natural springs
often originate,
