Some churches preserve with great vividness the devotional inspiration that caused their building and decoration: among them is certainly the church of Santa Margherita at Arzene, in whose apse the altarpiece with Sta. Margherita between SS. Sebastian and Rocco by Pomponio Amalteo (first half of the 16th cent.) is coupled with frescoes partly due to Gaspare
Church of Santa Maria di Tavella Narvesa (Annunciation; some Apostles, early 17th cent.) and to other more popular early 16th-century artists. The same category of churches also includes the old 14th-century parish church in the neighbourhood of San Lorenzo, were it only for the shocking vividness of the Devil on the chain fresco (16th cent.) set near the holy water stoup.
